Endocrinological examination

You need an endocrinological examination to check whether you have a disorder of glands with internal secretion, which include the pituitary gland, thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, pancreas, adrenal glands and gonads (ovaries in women, testicles in men), i.e. when there is doubt or proof that one of the above mentioned glands is not working well due to insufficient or excessive hormonal activity. An examination is also required if osteoporosis is suspected or proven, if you have difficulties due to excessive or insufficient body weight, if you do not feel well while taking medication, or as a control examination.

It is recommended to bring the results of previously performed tests and information about any medications you may be taking, as well as information about illnesses in the family.

The examination includes a conversation with a specialist endocrinologist about diseases of your family members, your diseases since birth and current complaints, a review of complete medical documentation, and a physical examination with special emphasis on possible changes that are typical for the disturbed work of a particular gland (height, weight, body mass index, hair appearance, eyes, thyroid, skin, contour, blood pressure value). After the examination and review of all the findings, the endocrinologist will make a working or final diagnosis and, if necessary, recommend additional tests, such as hormone measurements, imaging examinations of the glands such as ultrasound, computerized tomography, magnetic resonance, and possible cytological puncture under ultrasound control.
