Dr. Zlatko Sabol

Pediatrics
Prim. dr. sc. Zlatko Sabol graduated from the School of Medicine in 1977. After completing his medical internship and working in the Neonatology Department in Čakovec, as well as specializing in pediatrics at KBC Zagreb (1980–1984), he joined the Department of Pediatric Neurology and the Department of Intensive Care for Newborns and Children. From 1984 to 1993, he worked in these departments while simultaneously serving as a research assistant at the Pediatrics Department of the School of Medicine in Zagreb. Since 1993, he has been running the Pediatric Polyclinic, which he founded and owns. He completed postgraduate studies in clinical pediatrics and neurology, earning titles as a pediatric specialist and subspecialist in pediatric neurology.

Qualifications

Throughout his career, Dr. Sabol has completed numerous training courses in Croatia and abroad, acquiring diagnostic skills in pediatric neurology and orthopedics. He has participated in many congresses and conferences. He earned a master’s degree with a thesis on hip instability in Međimurje, and his Ph.D. focused on early signs of type 1 neurofibromatosis in children.

Publications

He has published over 130 scientific papers in the fields of epileptology, developmental pediatrics, and neurofibromatosis, and has been involved in numerous research projects. He is the editor of five pediatric handbooks and the author of a book on type 1 neurofibromatosis.

Membership

He has been elected three times as Vice President of the Croatian Society for Pediatric Neurology and has served on the Board of Directors of the Croatian League Against Epilepsy, which awarded him a recognition in 2018 for his contributions to epileptology. He is a member of various national and international professional organizations. He co-founded the Croatian Academy for Developmental Rehabilitation, the Croatian Society for Clinical Genetics, and the Croatian Neurofibromatosis Association, where he is honorary lifelong president. Since 2014, he has been an honorary member of the Croatian Medical Association.
