About

Teeth protrude or are positioned outside of the proper dental arch primarily due to lack of space. In young individuals, it is relatively common to observe the presence of cuspids or maxillary lateral incisors positioned above adjacent teeth. The correction of protruding teeth and their alignment into the optimal position can be successfully accomplished using all types of modern fixed braces. Additionally, self-ligating braces have shown remarkable effectiveness in expediting the overall treatment process.

Deep bite correction can be achieved with the following orthodontic braces:

  • Traditional metal braces,
  • Traditional clear braces,
  • Self-ligating metal braces,
  • Self-ligating clear braces,
  • Invisible Invisalign aligners.

Candidate

The treatment is suitable for individuals aged 12 and above who have aesthetic and functional concerns related to their deep bite.

Preparation

Prior to the placement of braces, patients will undergo a panoramic jaw X-ray at the orthodontic clinic. A detailed examination of the bone structure will help us determine the most suitable treatment plan based on the chosen type of braces.

Treatment

The placement of braces is a painless procedure that typically takes approximately 30 minutes, regardless of the type of fixed braces chosen. The average duration of the treatment varies between 12 and 18 months, depending on the specific type of braces chosen. Following the placement of braces, regular follow-up appointments are scheduled to closely monitor the progress and course of the treatment. The orthodontic clinic stands out for its unique approach to follow-up appointments, providing an ideal time interval for each visit. Due to our extensive experience and track record of successful treatments, we have optimized our scheduling to offer follow-up visits every 6 to 8 weeks. This approach significantly saves time for all our patients. Upon completion of the treatment, patients will receive retention aligners at no additional cost.

Result

The ultimate goal of the treatment is to achieve a harmonious relationship between the upper and lower jaws, resulting in symmetric teeth and a proper dental arch. Aligning the upper teeth in front of the lower teeth will restore natural dental function and enhance overall facial aesthetics.

F.A.Q.

What causes protruding teeth?

Protruding teeth are primarily caused by a lack of space in the jaw or genetic factors. Moreover, a protruding tooth can directly influence the alignment of the teeth positioned above or below it. This ongoing contact sets off a chain reaction, causing the adjacent teeth to be gradually pushed forward as well.

Which type of braces is most effective in correcting teeth misalignment?

We provide advanced orthodontic treatments that utilize a range of fixed braces to restore protruding teeth to their optimal position. These braces not only align each tooth with precision but also enhance the alignment between the upper and lower jaw, resulting in a significantly improved bite.

What are the negative consequences of having protruding teeth?

The most prominent negative consequence of protruding teeth is the aesthetic impact, as teeth positioned outside the natural dental arch can affect the overall appearance of the smile. Additionally, there is an elevated risk of dental injuries during sports activities. Maintaining proper oral hygiene becomes more challenging as well, as the close proximity of protruding teeth to adjacent teeth makes brushing difficult, thereby increasing the likelihood of tooth decay.

Do teeth tend to shift back to their original position once the orthodontic treatment is completed?

The occurrence of teeth reverting to their original position after braces are removed typically indicates inadequate treatment or the use of braces on only one jaw. At the orthodontics centre, we generally discourage the use of braces on only one jaw. We incorporate retention splints as a vital component of every orthodontic treatment. These splints consist of transparent foils that securely maintain the teeth in their corrected position without braces. Initially, they are worn daily and later transitioned to night-time use only. We provide complimentary retention splints to all our patients, along with a convenient storage box. By following simple instructions, patients can preserve the precise alignment achieved after the removal of braces.
