Holter monitor ECG

Holter ECG is recommended for individuals showing symptoms of irregular heart rhythm such as palpitations, dizziness, fainting, or other heart-related issues. It can also be used to monitor the effectiveness of therapy or in individuals with pre-existing heart conditions.

Prior to the procedure, the patient typically does not require any special preparation. However, they may be advised to avoid bathing or showering during the period of wearing the Holter monitor. It is also important to inform the physician about all medications the patient is taking.

During monitoring, the patient wears a small device that continuously records the heart's electrical activity. Electrodes are attached to specific locations on the chest, and the patient keeps a diary of activities to later compare the results with their activities.

Holter ECG results provide a detailed insight into heart rhythms during the period of wearing the device. The physician will analyze these results to diagnose any heart rhythm issues, such as arrhythmias or other irregularities, and recommend appropriate therapy or further tests.
